Hunter's repeat Heritage Bowl success for Riesling

Hunter’s Wines are thrilled to receive the Easter Wine Show Heritage Trophy for the second time in the three years with their line-up of 2012, 2009 and 2006 Rieslings.

The Heritage category was introduced to the Easter Show in 2011 to identify and reward wines that have evidenced a capacity to develop grace and complexity over time and offer a guide to consumers and wine lovers about cellaring potential of such wines.

This year Hunter’s put forward Rieslings from the 2012, 2009 and 2006 vintages because they showcase ageing ability across a variety of seasons so well says Chief Winemaker Gary Duke.

Hunter's won the inaugural Heritage Rose Bowl in 2011 with their 2010, 2007 & 2004 vintage Rieslings.

“The Heritage Trophy has only been running for three years and to have won it for two of those years is a real credit to our winemaking team and reflects well on our wine making style which lends itself to long lasting wines” says Jane Hunter, OBE, CNZM, Managing Director for Hunter’s Wines.

Hunter’s Marlborough Riesling 2012 along with Hunter’s Marlborough 2009 MiruMiru Reserve (MiruMiru is Maori for bubbles) both won Gold at this year’s Easter Show.

Hunter’s have been making award winning Rieslings since 1982, that’s over 30 years!  Their Marlborough 2013 Riesling will be harvested in the next couple of weeks from the home block vineyard on Rapaura Road and released in August 2013.
